Mandy Dodd Ceramics

Mandy makes functional wheel thrown high fired Earthenware from her home studio in Woodley inspired by nature and the British countryside. Colourful slips are used over paper cut outs in order to build up complex layers of decoration.  Often fired up to four times her pieces are a true labour of love; all thrown and painted individually.

Mandy’s history as puppeteer and scenery artist has also led her to experiment with making animal sculptures that all have character; hares, owls, foxes, chickens, dogs, birds etc.

I am fascinated by the alchemy of clay that transforms a lump of wet, sticky mud into something that people might buy, use and treasure and an object that will not fade and  last  for many years to come.
